The Ksar Ghilane oasis is one of the gateways to the Tunisian desert, the great eastern erg of the Sahara.

This excursion offers you an immersive experience in the heart of the ocher sand dunes, to discover the immensity of the Tunisian desert.

During this excursion, you will make a stop to visit Matmata and the troglodyte houses, an unusual village located in the heart of the Berber region.

This stop will allow you to explore the Sidi Idriss hotel, one of the filming sites for the Star Wars films.

In Ksar Ghilane, you can contemplate the desert and the endless expanses of sand dunes, visit the palm grove of the oasis and relax in the hot spring with a temperature of 32°C.

You will have lunch in a restaurant at the foot of the dunes.

As an option, you can go on an adventure riding a quad to the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar, and even live the unique experience of a camel ride in the desert.

THE DESERT DAY TOUR PROGRAM IN KSAR GHILANE

Pick-up in front of your place of stay in Gabès at 6:30 a.m.
Departure in 4x4 towards Matmata.
Visit to the troglodyte houses of Matmata.
Then drive to Ksar Ghilane, an oasis surrounded by immense ocher sand dunes (Eastern Erg).
Lunch in a restaurant at the foot of the dunes.
Free time to visit the oasis.
Optional, camel ride €15/h or quad ride to the Roman fort of TIsavar, €30/h (to be paid on site).
Bathing in the hot water spring at 32°. (Optional)
Return to your place of stay in Gabès.

Information:
Transportation is either by 4x4 or minibus depending on the number of participants.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

This excursion is not open to people with reduced mobility.

Solar cream.

Our prices are incl. VAT and in €, they decrease depending on the number of participants:

For private day trips, reductions for children under 11 only apply to groups of 4 or more paying adults.

The price includes:

Pick-up and drop-off at your place of stay.

Fed by a hot water spring from a failed oil drilling in 1953, this oasis offers a unique experience of discovering the Tunisian desert.
The water from the spring, at a temperature of around 32 degrees, is rich in sulfur, renowned for its thermal properties.
You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to bathe in this natural spring.

Camel or quad ride:
In Ksar Ghilane, you can optionally take a camel ride or quad bike ride in the ocher sand dunes.
These activities are optional and payable on site, they will allow you to discover the desert landscapes of the region in a unique and fun way.
