THE MAGICAL NEW YEAR’S EVE PROGRAM UNDER THE STARS IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT

Day 1

Pickup at 7:30 AM from your accommodation in Zarzis.
Visit to Ksar Ouled Soltane.
Guided tour of the Berber village of Chenini.
Lunch in Guermassa.
Departure to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane.
At Ksar Ghilane, visit the oasis with the option to swim in the 32°C hot spring (Optional).

Options:

Camel ride for 1 hour / €15

Quad ride for 1 hour / €30

Departure by 4x4 to the comfortable Saharan camp via the track (20 km).
Watch the sunset and see a demonstration of bread baking in the sand.
New Year's Eve Celebration: Festive New Year's Eve dinner at the Saharan restaurant and overnight in a private tent in the desert.

Day 2

Breakfast and free time in the dunes.
Departure to Matmata via the Berber village of Tamezret.
Visit a troglodyte house and discover the lunar landscape of the region.
Lunch in Tamezret.
Visit to Matmata and its troglodyte houses.
Return and drop-off at your accommodation in Zarzis.

New Year's Eve Program:

Dinner in the Restaurant with Entertainment:

Take away:

Concerning the equipment, you must include in a bag (this is better for sand)

Your change for the duration of the excursion or circuit, a flashlight or headlamp, as well as towels (not provided at the Saharan camp).

For the evening, bring warm clothes as it can be very cold in winter.

If you are cold, for the camp we recommend sports tracksuits for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.

Blankets, pillows and sheets are provided at the camp.

HIGHLIGHTS OF NEW YEAR’S EVE IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT

Your exceptional New Year's Eve celebration will begin with a pickup at 7:30 AM from your accommodation in Zarzis, followed by a fascinating journey through the Berber region to the desert at Ksar Ghilane.

During the trip, you will be captivated by the semi-desert landscapes of the Berber region, with photo stops to capture the exceptional scenery.

Your first stop will be the exploration of Ksar Ouled Soltane, an Arab Ksar that served as a backdrop for some scenes of Star Wars. After a 40-minute guided tour of the picturesque Berber village of Chenini, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Guermassa.

Your journey will continue towards the desert, to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, where the rocky landscape will gradually become an ochre sand desert (Erg).

At Ksar Ghilane, you will have the opportunity to participate in various activities:

Swim in the 32°C hot spring (Free).
Ride a camel for €15/hour.
Take a quad tour to the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar for €30/hour.

These activities can be paid for directly on site.

Then, you will travel by 4x4 to the comfortable Saharan camp located about 20 km due south, to watch the sunset over the dunes, see a demonstration of bread baking in the sand, and spend New Year's Eve in the desert.

The evening will include:

An open bar around the campfire, with Tunisian drinks, non-alcoholic beverages, and appetizers.
Folk entertainment and a camel fantasia.
A New Year's Eve dinner served in the restaurant with additional entertainment: a folk group and a DJ to set the mood.

The meal will consist of a variety of dishes, such as:

Appetizers (kemia).
Seafood soup.
Salad plates.
Lamb gargoulette (lamb cooked with vegetables in a sealed jar).
Seasonal fruit salad.
Tunisian pastries and mint tea.

You will also have access to the bar, with red, rosé, or white wines, water, and sodas available at will.

At midnight, a traditional champagne toast will be served to celebrate the New Year.

You will spend the first night of the new year in your private tent, continuing to enjoy the desert atmosphere.

The first day of the year will begin with a peaceful breakfast in the desert, followed by a trip to Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses and Star Wars settings.

Lunch with locals in Tamezret will offer you an authentic experience before returning to Zarzis in the late afternoon, thus concluding two days of adventure, discovery, and an unforgettable New Year's Eve in the Tunisian desert.

This program is also offered over 3 days with an additional night in the desert.
