TWO DAYS OF HIKING HORSE RIDING IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT FROM ZARZIS

This two-day adventure offers a unique horseback riding experience in the Tunisian desert, designed for horseback riding enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The journey begins with a transfer by 4x4 or minibus from Zarzis to Douz, for the start of the horseback ride through the desert expanses.

This horseback riding tour in the Tunisian desert offers you not only an active exploration of the Sahara, but also a deep immersion in the wild and preserved nature of the great Erg Oriental.

Every step your horse takes will bring you closer to the raw beauty of the desert, creating unforgettable memories, for horseback riding enthusiasts and nature enthusiasts.

You will have dinner and spend the night in bivouac or in a Saharan camp, under the stars of the Tunisian desert.

HORSE RIDE IN THE DESERT PROGRAM

Day 1:

Pick-up from your place of stay at 6:30 a.m. and transfer to Douz la porte du desert.
You will meet your riding guides and their horses.
You will leave for the first stage of your horseback trek in the white sand of the desert.
Lunch break in the form of a picnic with the riding guides.
Resumption of your hike.
Dinner and night in bivouac or in a Saharan camp depending on the season.

Day 2:

Breakfast and departure for three hours of hiking.
After two hours of hiking, lunch break, prepared by the riding guide.
Resumption of your ride in the dunes.
Return to Douz.
Departure by 4X4 or minibus for Zarzis, and drop off in front of your place of stay.

Information:
The transfer to reach Douz is done by 4X4, or by microbus depending on the number of participants.

A liability waiver must be signed before riding a horse.

You will have one horse per person, children under 18 cannot ride.

You will not have water to wash yourself, in bivouac version, bring wet wipes.

There is no network in the desert, make your calls before leaving.

This excursion is not open to people with reduced mobility.

For our horse rider friends, we offer horseback riding in the Tunisian desert, a unique and unforgettable experience.

Here's a look at what you can expect from this equestrian adventure in the Tunisian desert.

Pick up at 6:30 a.m. in front of your place of stay, and departure towards Douz, the famous gateway to the desert.

In Douz, you will meet your experienced riding guides as well as the magnificent horses who will accompany youthroughout your hike.Once the preparations are complete, you will begin your horseback ride through the endless expanses of the Tunisian desert.

You will spend the whole day on horseback, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the desert.You'll pass through majestic sand dunes, desert plains, and perhaps even isolated oases.

During your ride, you will take breaks to rest and rest the horses, and enjoy the incredible panoramas andpicnic lunch in the desert.

At the end of the afternoon, your guides will set up bivouac for the night or you will sleep in a Saharan camp depending on the season.
You will have the choice of sleeping in a private tent or under the stars for an even more authentic experience.

The next day, after breakfast in the desert, you will get back on your horses to continue your hike.
A final lunch break in the desert, then return to Douz in the middle of the afternoon.

Once in Douz, you will head back to Zarzis, taking with you unforgettable memoriesof your equestrian adventure in the Tunisian desert.

This horseback ride will allow you to experience a true communion with nature and horses, while exploringthe magnificent landscapes of the desert.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, this experience promises you moments of freedom, disconnectionand wonder.

Don't forget:

A complete change of clothes.
Toiletries and a towel.
Wet wipes.
A small trash bag.
A flashlight or headlamp.
Sunscreen.
Hat or cap.
Hiking shoes.
Sunglasses.
Backpack.
Water bottle.
Camera.
Warm clothes for the evening as it can get very cold in winter.
If you tend to feel cold, we recommend sportswear for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.
Some cash for personal expenses.

Preparing adequately for a bivouac in the desert will ensure a more pleasant and comfortable experience.

It is important to respect the desert and make sure to leave no trace of your visit.
