Let yourself be tempted by a unique equestrian escapade in the heart of the Tunisian desert, a two-day adventure that combines a passion for horse riding and a love of nature.

From the capital Tunis, take a flight to Djerba, the gateway to southern Tunisia, then we will pick you up from the airport to reach Douz, the starting point of your 2-day horseback trek in the desert .

To the rhythm of hooves in the sand, discover the breathtaking landscapes of the Sahara, a place where time seems suspended.

This unique experience offers you the freedom to explore the vastness of the desert, before resting during a magical evening under the starry sky, sharing a traditional dinner and a night in bivouac.

For seasoned riders and beginners alike, this equestrian adventure promises indelible memories and a deep connection with the natural wonders of the Tunisian Sahara Desert.

HORSE RIDING PROGRAM IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT DEPARTING FROM TUNIS

Day 1: Departure for Adventure

Flight on request from Tunis to Djerba.
Welcome in Djerba and transfer to Douz, the “door to the desert”.
Meeting with the guides and the horses, preparation for the horseback ride.
Start of the adventure through the wilderness of the desert.
Lunch break for a picnic in the desert, with local dishes.
Continuation of the hike to the bivouac site.
Setting up camp, dinner under the stars and evening by the fire.
Night in bivouac, in tents or under the stars.

Day 2: Return to Civilization

Breakfast with the first light of dawn.
Resumption of horseback riding, exploration of new desert landscapes.
Lunch in the dunes.
Return to Douz in the early afternoon.
Transfer to Djerba and return flight to Tunis (on request).
Arrival in Tunis, end of the equestrian adventure.

Information:

The transfer to Douz is done by 4X4, or by microbus depending on the number of participants.

You will have one horse per person, children under 18 cannot ride.

You will not have water to wash yourself, in bivouac version, bring wet wipes.

There is no network in the desert, make your calls before leaving.

This tour is not open to people with reduced mobility.

Pickup and drop-off at Djerba airport.
Permits for the desert.
Transport in a private 4x4 or minibus with a driver.

Round-trip flights from Tunis to Djerba (available upon request).
International flights.

The next day, after greeting the sunrise with breakfast at the camp, the hike continues, offering new perspectives on this unique landscape.

By returning to Djerba then to Tunis, what you bring back is much more than a memory: it is an indelible trace of freedom, adventure and communion with the Tunisian desert.

Don't forget:

A complete change of clothes.
Toiletries and a towel.
Wet wipes.
A small trash bag.
A flashlight or headlamp.
Sunscreen.
Hat or cap.
Hiking shoes.
Sunglasses.
Backpack.
Water bottle.
Camera.
Warm clothes for the evening as it can get very cold in winter.
If you tend to feel cold, we recommend sportswear for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.

Preparing adequately for a bivouac in the desert will ensure a more pleasant and comfortable experience.

It is important to respect the desert and make sure to leave no trace of your visit.
