PROGRAM OF THE TWO-DAY TOUR FROM TOZEUR TO KSAR GHILANE AND MATMATA

Day 1: In the Heart of the Desert

Your adventure begins in Tozeur, from where you will leave by 4x4 towards Douz, crossing the fascinating salt lake, Chott El Jérid.
Be surprised by the beauty of the palm grove's irrigation system and the splendor of the petrified dunes.
After a typical lunch in Douz, head to Ksar Ghilane, an oasis bordered by immense ocher sand dunes.
There, choose between an exotic camel ride or a thrilling quad adventure (optional).
Also enjoy a relaxing swim in a 32° hot spring (optional).
The day ends with a unique experience: after dinner, a night in the desert, in a Saharan camp, in private tents, under a starry sky.

Day 2: Return to Origins

After breakfast in the middle of the dunes, and a moment of freedom in this landscape as far as the eye can see, you will leave again towards Douz.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Sidi Bouhlel Canyon via Chott El Jerid, a stunning panorama of natural beauty.

Your journey ends with a return to Tozeur, where you will be dropped off in front of your place of stay, your head full of magical memories.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TWO - DAY TRIP FROM TOZEUR TO KSAR GHILANE AND MATMATA

Departure from Tozeur for an Unforgettable Adventure through the Tunisian Desert

Our first stop will be Chott El Jerid, a vast salt lake where we will observe fascinating lunar landscapes.

Next, we head to Douz, the gateway to the Sahara, for a gourmet break and the discovery of the astonishing petrified dunes, a unique natural spectacle shaped by floods. We will then take the road or track towards Ksar Ghilane, an enchanting oasis bordered by the great Tunisian Sahara.

You will have the opportunity to discover the life of nomadic families, their traditions, and their daily activities around the cultivation of date palms and livestock farming. For the more adventurous, camel rides or quad biking will be offered to explore the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar.

At Ksar Ghilane, you will have the opportunity to enjoy various activities:

Swim in the 32° hot spring (Free).
Camel ride for 15€/hour.
Quad tour to the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar for 30€/hour.

These activities are to be paid for directly on site.

After a coffee break and some relaxation in the oasis, you will take the 4X4 to our Saharan campsite, located 20 km into the desert south of Ksar Ghilane.

The campsite offers all necessary comforts and is centered around a restaurant-bar. It features Saharan tents, and the sanitary facilities and kitchen are comparable to a good hotel.

You will witness the traditional demonstration of baking bread in the sand. After a delicious meal, you can stroll through the dunes, enjoy the silence of the desert, and if the weather permits, admire the starry sky. You will then spend the night in the Tunisian desert, in a comfortable private tent with real beds.

After a night under the stars, we will head back to Tozeur, with a stop in Douz for lunch.

Our journey will conclude with a visit to the Sidi Bouhlel canyon, famous for being a filming location for numerous movies.

Concerning the equipment, you must include in a bag (this is better for sand):
Your change for the duration of the excursion or tour, a flashlight or headlamp, as well as towels (not provided at the Saharan camp).
For the evening, in winter, bring warm clothes as it can be very cold at this time of year.
If you are cold, for the camp we recommend sports tracksuits for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.
Blankets, pillows and sheets are provided at the camp.
