THREE-DAY TOUR IN SOUTH TUNISIA FROM DJERBA

Your private three-day tour begins at 7:30 AM with pickup from your accommodation in Djerba or Djerba airport.

 

Start your journey by discovering the mountainous region of the Matmata mountains, a winding road that will lead you to Douz.

 

Pass through Douz, a town renowned for its vast palm groves producing the delicious "Deglet Nour" dates.

 

Then, continue westward, crossing the Chott El Jerid, an impressive salt lake that stretches as far as the eye can see, where mirages are common.

 

After this spectacular crossing, you will arrive in Tozeur for lunch at a restaurant.

 

Then head towards the mountain oases, continuing further west to reach the Saharan Atlas mountain range near the Algerian border.

 

Here, numerous springs burst forth in the desert landscape, forming small shaded oases.

 

You will be fascinated by the mountain oases, notably Tamerza with its waterfalls, Midès with its deep canyons, and the splendid oasis of Chebika.

 

At the end of the day, visit the Star Wars sets located in the middle of the desert, watch the sunset, and then visit the Nefta basket before returning to the hotel for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

 

On the second day, head south again, passing through Chott el Jérid and Douz for lunch before heading out to explore the desert.

 

The grand oriental erg will reveal itself to you with its majestic sand dunes.

 

From the brilliant white of Douz to the deep ochre of Ksar Ghilane, the panorama is simply magnificent.

 

At Ksar Ghilane, you can swim in the hot spring where the water gushes at 32°C, or take a quad or camel ride.

 

In the late afternoon, take the 4X4 to the Saharan camp located 20 km south of Ksar Ghilane, at the foot of a magnificent dune ridge.

 

Watch the sunset if the weather permits, see a demonstration of baking bread in the sand, have dinner at the Saharan restaurant, and spend the night in your private tent in the desert camp.

 

On the third day, return to the Berber region and visit Matmata and the troglodyte houses followed by lunch with locals, before heading back to Djerba or

 

Djerba airport in the late afternoon.
