Day 1

Pickup from your accommodation at 7:30 AM.
Departure to El Jem. (330 km, 3h50).
Lunch at a restaurant.

Departure to Kairouan. (72 km, 1h15).
Visit to the Great Mosque of Kairouan, the largest mosque in Tunisia
Visit to the Aghlabid Basins, water reservoirs dating back to the 9th century

Day 2

Visit to the Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, a 10th-century mausoleum
Early morning departure to Haidra. (200 km, 3h10).

Day 7

Departure to the mountain oases.
Visit to the oases of Chebika, Tamerza, and the Mides Canyon.
Lunch in Tamerza.
Visit to the Star Wars set of Mos Espa in the desert at Ong Jmal in Nefta and watch the sunset.
Dinner and overnight at a 4-star hotel in Tozeur.

Day 8

Departure to Douz. (140 km, 2h).
Lunch in Douz.
Departure to Ksar Ghilane. (140 km, 1h45).
Arrival at Ksar Ghilane,
Coffee break and optional swim in the 32°C hot spring.
Free time in the oasis and the desert.
Departure to the desert camp, 20 km off-road.
Dinner and overnight at the Saharan camp.

Day 9

Departure to Ksar Ouled Soltane. (132 km, 2h30).
Visit to Ksar Ouled Soltane.
Lunch in Guermassa. (40 km, 40 min).
Departure to Chenini. (25 km, 23 min).
Visit to Chenini. (30 min)
Two-hour hike from Chenini to Douiret. (6 km)
Dinner and overnight in a troglodyte guesthouse in Douiret.

Day 10

Visit to Ksar Hadada. (45 km, 45 min).
Departure to Matmata. (100 km, 2h10).
Lunch with locals in Tamezret.
Visit to the troglodyte houses of Matmata.
Return to Djerba and drop-off at the airport or your accommodation. (2h30, 190 km).

The tour is done either by 4X4 or by minibus.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GRAND TOUR OF TUNISIA OVER TEN DAYS FROM DJERBA

This ten-day tour is designed for those who aspire to a deep and enriching travel experience, blending history, culture, and nature.

The first day transports you back in time to El Jem, where you will be dazzled by the majestic Roman amphitheater, followed by an enriching visit to Kairouan, the cradle of Islamic spirituality in Tunisia.

The second day reveals the deep history of Haidara and the spectacular geological formations of the Jugurtha Tables, before retiring for the night to El Kef, a town of history and charm.

Day three explores the archaeological wealth of Bulla Regia and Dougga, offering a unique insight into Roman life in North Africa, with a final stop at Testour, renowned for its unique clock that runs backwards.

Day four takes us to Thuborbo Majus, a fascinating ancient site, before finishing in Tunis, with a stop at Sidi Bou Said, known for its breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.

The fifth day is dedicated to the discovery of the medina of Tunis and the vineyards of Mornag, followed by a visit to Kerkouane and the fort of Kélibia, witnesses of the Punic and Ottoman heritage.

Day six heads to Sousse to explore its archaeological museum and medina, before traveling to Tozeur, gateway to the Tunisian desert

The seventh day is an invitation to marvel at the oases of Chebika, Tamerza, and the Mides Canyon, followed by a visit to the Star Wars sets in Nefta, to end the day with a memorable sunset.

The eighth day takes you to Douz, then to Ksar Ghilane for an authentic experience of the Sahara, with a night at the Saharan camp, under the stars.

The ninth day continues the adventure towards Ksar Ouled Soltane, followed by a visit to Chenini and a hike between Chenini and Douiret, for a night in a unique troglodyte lodge.

The tenth day ends this journey with a visit to Ksar Hadada, a dive into the world of the troglodyte houses of Matmata, before returning to Djerba.
