The last day takes you to Matmata for a visit to the famous cave houses, with lunch at a local's home in Tamezret.

PROGRAM OF THE 4X4 TOUR IN THE SOUTH OF TUNISIA OVER 3 DAYS FROM GABES
Day 1:

Pickup at 6:30 AM from your accommodation and departure for Tozeur.

Numerous photo stops and lunch at a restaurant in Tozeur.

Departure for visits to the oases of Tamerza, Chebika, and the Mides canyon.

Visit Ong Jmal and Nefta.

Return to Tozeur. Dinner and overnight at the Ksar Rouge 4* hotel or equivalent, or in a guesthouse. (Double room basis).
Day 2:

Departure for the Chott El Jerid.

Visit the Sidi-Bouhel canyon.

Route to Douz.

Visit the petrified dunes and the palm grove irrigation system.

Lunch in Douz.

Departure for the Ksar Ghilane oasis.

At Ksar Ghilane, visit the oasis with an optional swim in the 32°C hot spring (optional).

OPTIONAL: Camel ride €15/hour, Quad ride €30/hour (to be paid on-site).

Departure in a 4X4 to the Zmela Saharan camp via the track (20 km).

Sunset, bread baking demonstration in the sand.

Day 3:

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 3-DAY 4X4 TOUR IN SOUTH TUNISIA
Your three-day private tour begins at 6:30 a.m., with pick-up from your place of stay in Gabès .
Start your journey with the discovery of the mountainous region of the Matmata mountains, this winding road which will take you to Douz.
You will pass through Douz, a town renowned for its immense palm groves producing the delicious “Deglet Nour” dates.
You will then continue your journey towards the west, crossing the Chott El Jerid, an impressive salt lake which extends as far as the eye can see and mirages are common.
After this spectacular crossing, you will arrive in Tozeur where you will have lunch at the restaurant.
Then head towards the mountain oases, continuing further west, you will reach the Saharan Atlas mountain range, located near the Algerian border. Here, numerous springs spring into the heart of the desert landscape, forming small shaded oases.
You will be fascinated by the mountain oases, notably Tamerza with its waterfalls, Midès and its deep canyons, as well as the splendid oasis of Chebika.
At the end of the day, place the Star Wars sets located in the middle of the desert, where you will watch the sunset before ending the day with a visit to the Nefta basket and a return to the hotel for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
The second day, you will head south, passing again through Chott el Jérid and Douz where you will have lunch, before setting off to explore the desert.
The large oriental erg will then be revealed to you, with its majestic sand dunes.
From the bright white in Douz to the deep ocher in Ksar Ghilane, the panorama is simply magnificent.
At Ksar Ghilane, you can swim in the spring where the water gushes out heated to 32°, or take a quad bike ride and/ or camel ride.
At the end of the afternoon you will take the 4X4 again to go to the Saharan camp located due south, 20 km from the Ksar Ghilane track, at the foot of a magnificent line of dunes. you will watch the sunset if weather permits, you will see the demonstration of bread baking in the sand, have dinner at the Saharan restaurant before spending the night in your private tent in the desert camp.
The third day, return to the Berber region and visit Matmata and the troglodyte houses followed by lunch with locals, before returning to Gabès at the end of the afternoon.
