PROGRAM OF THE 4-DAY OFF ROAD TOUR IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT FROM DOUZ

Day 1

Pickup at 10:00 AM from your accommodation in Douz.
Departure in a 4x4, taking the track around Jbil National Park towards the Tembaine mountain plateau (95 km).
Lunch in the desert in the form of a picnic.
Arrival at the Saharan camp in the Grand Erg Oriental in the late afternoon.
Setup, free time, dinner, evening gathering around the fire, and overnight stay in a comfortable private tent.

Day 2

Breakfast, free time in the desert.
Departure by 4x4 to the Grand Erg and Lake Houidath Erreched (70 km).
Lunch at the lake and free time in the oasis and desert.
Setup and preparation of the bivouac.
Dinner, evening gathering around the fire, and overnight stay in a private tent.

Day 3

Quiet breakfast in the desert.
Departure by 4x4 to the Tembaine mountain via another route (70 km).
Lunch on the way in the dunes, in the form of a picnic.
Arrival at the Tembaine camp.
Setup, free time, dinner, evening gathering around the fire, and overnight stay in a comfortable private tent.

Day 4

Quiet breakfast in the desert.
Departure by 4x4 back to Douz (95 km).
Lunch on the way in the form of a picnic.
Transfer to Douz, and drop-off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

The tour is done in a private 4X4.

Our vehicles can be equipped with baby seats on request.

There is no network in the desert, make your calls before leaving.

This tour is not open to people with reduced mobility.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 4-DAY 4X4 TOUR IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT

This off road trip in the Tunisian desert will take you through the vast dunes, towards Lake Houidath Erreched, passing by the Tembaine mountain, in the heart of the Tunisian Sahara.

The adventure begins at 10 a.m. from your place of stay in Douz, direction Tembaine. Lunch will be in the form of a picnic in the middle of the desert.

After this break, you will continue towards your first stop: a Saharan camp at the foot of the Tembaine mountain.

At the camp, you will have free time to explore the gigantic sand dunes and climb them to enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the desert. The evening will take place around a wood fire, followed by dinner and a night spent in comfortable private tents.

The next day, after breakfast, you will prepare to face increasingly imposing dunes, towards Lake Houidath Erreched. Along the way, you will pass through "bathtubs", rocky deserts called Regs, and sand dunes called Ergs.

Lunch will consist of a hearty picnic in the middle of the desert.

Late in the afternoon, you will reach Lake Houidath Erreched, a spectacular oasis surrounded by immense sand dunes.

Enjoy a bath in the hot spring, before settling in for bivouac, savor an excellent meal under the stars prepared by your guides, and spend the night in your private tent.

The next morning, you will take another route to reach Tembaine Mountain and the Saharan camp, where you will have dinner and spend your third night in the desert.

On the fourth day, after a last look at the Tembaine mountain, you will leave again towards Douz. Lunch will be made en route, in the form of a picnic, before returning to your place of stay in Douz, thus marking the end of your adventure through the immensity of the Tunisian desert.

Do not forget:

Concerning the equipment, you must include in a bag (this is better for sand):
A complete change.
Toiletries and towel (not provided at the Saharan camp).
A flashlight or headlamp.
Solar cream.
Hat or cap.
Hiking boots.
Pair of sunglasses.
Camera.
For the evening, bring warm clothes as it can be very cold in winter.
If you are cold, we recommend sports tracksuits for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.
Tents, blankets, pillows and sheets are provided at camp and in bivouac.
